  • FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q: How long is RealCo?

A: Duration of the RealCo program is up to 15 months.

Q: Is there a Demo Day?

A: No. RealCo works to help companies raise their funds from investors when needed rather than throw a Demo Day event.

    Q: Is RealCo an accelerator?

A: No. Accelerators focus on Demo Days and raising Seed Rounds. RealCo focuses on getting your startup to Series A and puts in the time to accomplish that goal.

Q: How does the $100K in funding work?

A: Companies receive $50k upon entry into the program and $50k once they reach level 3 ($10k MRR for 3 months).

    Q: Can I be a Mentor?

A: Let's talk. Send us an e-mail or stop by the RealCo space if you'd like to discuss this further.

Q: What is the program fee?

A: In exchange for the value we offer, participant Realco companies grant warrants equivalent to 6% common shares at the time of entrance to the program.

Q: I have a business. Is RealCo for me?

A: We work with B2B startups with a potential for high-growth over a long period of time. Our companies have a product based on an internet tech innovation that will scale to be very large someday.

Q: What occurs if the company achieves the milestones before the 15-month timeline?

A: The 15 months is not a hard timeline, some companies may only be in the program for 6 months, others may utilize the full 15-month program.

Q: Is RealCo hard to get into?

A: Yes. We review about 1,000 companies per month and, on average, bring one in each month. These companies in the program are all-stars we think worthy of venture investment.

Q: How can I join the program?

Q: Do companies have to take the $100k investment?

A: Yes. Companies receive $50,000 upon entry into the program and $50,000 once they reach level 3 ($10k MRR for 3 months).

Q: How often will I meet with the RealCo team?

A: There are weekly meetings with the RealCo team, monthly meetings with your advisory board and impromptu chats as needed. We usually talk to participants daily if not more often.

Q: Can I raise money during the program?

A: Of course! We want you to do what’s best for the company and the founders. Most companies raise money in the program and we help with that process.

Q: What does a day at RealCo look like?

A: You’ll do normal work days building your business by making customers love you. Those days will just be turbocharged, as needed, with support from the RealCo team and mentors.

    Q: When are start dates?

A: Companies join the program when they’re ready. We don’t have a fixed start or end date. While we do have application deadlines, we want our program to be startup-first and that means starting on your timeline.

Q: What is the on boarding process?

A: We’ll start by getting to know you and your business through the application process. After acceptance, we have an on-boarding meeting where we do a deep dive into your business.

Q: Do I need to relocate my business?

A: No. We ask that the leadership team of the company spend one week a month for the first 3 months of the program in the RealCo Office. After that, we expect the team is in office 1 week a quarter. When not in San Antonio weekly meetings will be virtual.

Q: What is the cadence of the program?

A: The program is based on the idea of building real businesses. Along the way, you’ll have regular meetings with the RealCo team, meet with your mentors, and engage in specialized educational programming as needed. We also hold all-call meetings weekly companies to check-in with each other.

Q: Is your company a fit for RealCo?

A: We look for companies who meet the following criteria: Internet-Tech B2B, Complete Team, Large Target Market, Relentlessly Resourceful Teams

Q: What should I expect if I join?

A: We think of the RealCo team as "fractional co-founders" for you. We bring our network, effort, and resources to make your company more successful than if you're going it alone.
